Great fresh flavors in a relaxed environment. You can't go wrong with the tacos.
Very slow service, small portion, they were overwhelmed and they knew it. But the beer was refreshingly cold.
Fresh Guac was great. chicken nachos were great too. However probably the worst taco I ever ate outside of my house. Flavorless and dry. Not cheap by any means.
My absolute favorite Mexican restaurant. The taco bowl thing with tofu is my every visit order. It's so comfortable in there. Just a very relaxing feeling and homey!!!
Super disappointing experience, service was not great and staff was unpleasant. We were greeted with “sit wherever” instead of a welcome. I understand it’s the lunch rush but cmon. I also found it strange that all of the meals are served in plastic take out/to go like containers and served with plastic cutlery (really great for the environment). The food also wasn’t very fresh or tasty, very bland and not authentic at all. Also my salad was made with shredded lettuce which was just idk.
Nice place stopped in after a Steelers game. Was lucky to find a seat at the bar. Place was busy but staff seemed to be working well. Got drinks fast enough. Food was good as well. Just had a woman who was over severed and mad at her boy friend. Still had a good time.
Food and drinks were great.
Overly Americanized flavorless food. No detectable spices, "queso" that tastes like beer cheese mixed with butter that might have been at home on a pretzel. Mexican style taco had a small amount of steak and cilantro and what seemed like at least half an onion on each tortilla. Side of rice was tiny and served in a little black cup you would expect to be filled with sauce, not a full side. Atmosphere and service were fine and prices would be reasonable if the food was passable Mexican but it just isn't.
We went here after the Steelers game. Food was good.
Meal b4 the game! Upgraded and improved upon Mexican food, great staff!!
Two out of three meals ordered where wrong (asked for beef not chicken or asked for plain chicken and cheese quesadillas and it call with everything on it). Third meal was completely forgotten. Queso was good though.
The restaurant was absolutely freezing during our lunch today with our party of 6. We all had to keep our coats on. The place was under staffed. I feel like the waitress could've been friendlier if she wasn't overwhelmed and more staff was present. She doubled as the bartender. She did as much as she could with what she given. The guacamole was so brown and the cheese sauce wasn't the right texture. I ordered the lunch special with 2 carnitas tacos, but the meat wasn't the best flavor. I wouldn't go back, unless it was during the Pirate's baseball season. It seems like this location is not prepared for customers out of season.
Fair prices. Tasty tacos. My drinks were especially delicious. My server was awesome. I dont remember his name, just that he was from New England. He deserves an extra shout out and will probably be the reason I go back! Great experience all around!
So, so bad. Really bad. Inedible. Horrible. Gross. Stay away from here if you want food or booze or literally anything other than a skunked corona. Food tastes like an ash tray, the interior smells like a urinal. I’m literally in shock about how bad this is, I don’t even know what to say. ZERO STARS, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.
We went after a pirates game. Great service. The food was really good. I am not a big mexican fan, but i liked this one. The prices are fair on the food as well as the drinks. I strongly recommend this restaurant, even if you are just wanting chips and salsa and a beer. Excellent
Good tacos at a terrific location at PNC Park. Decent prices for the location too!
The taquitos were delicious, but their nachos weren't so much. All of the toppings were in the center, and many got soggy incredibly quickly. I'd try it again though, I went during Picklesburgh so they were busier than normal.
Friendly service, reasonable prices and friendly patrons
One of my favorite places for delicious mexican food. Fast, efficient, and courteous service. Bring your hunger - portions are filling.
Reallly good salsas and guacamole. All the tacos are solid. When busy service can be a little slow but worth it before or after catching a baseball game.
Went in around 4pm, maybe 8 other people so not busy. Ordered drinks (margarita was good) took around 35 minutes for the appetizers to be served, caeso dip-not great. Meals came, very disappointed. I got a simple taco salad, asked for no sour cream. Came with sour cream. Got a new one quick no problem. The "meat" In the taco salad was basically pureed beef jerky. That's exactly what it tasted like. So extremely salty I could not eat more than 3 bites. I am not one of those ppl to complain but I had to let them know that the meat is just so over powering its inedible. Sever comped my food but but with a kids meal, a burrito and 2 drinks on there I still paid $50 & went home hungry so very not pleased. Unfortunately will not return.
Great food!! Only bad part was a bum came and sat at the table next to us, and wouldn't leave us alone. They should've asked him to leave since he wasn't ordering anything!
First time here and this place is delicious. Highly recommend.
Really good food, but waited over an hour for it to come
What a great bar/restaurant! Cactus all around. We're here in Pittsburgh for a Pirates game.It was the best place to begin our adventure. We had ice cold Iron City draft and terrific chips, salsa and the best guacamole I ever had. Our bartender was friendly, professional and FUN!
Cool atmosphere, friendly staff, good location, prices were as expected. However, we unknowingly stopped here to eat 30 minutes before they closed (oops) so the meat was kinda dry and the breaded onions were hard. Flavors were good but just seemed like the "leftovers at the end of the day". The boyfriend's carnita tacos were good though. I made a comment about not liking sour cream, and the waitress went out of her way to let the kitchen know I didn't like sour cream, so they didn't put the sauce on my meal; so I was pleased about that. Otherwise, I'm not sure if I would return here or not - seems like it could have good potential.
My wife had shrimp tacos and I had chicken. The chicken in the taco was burnt and dry. Did not eat the rest of the meal. Do not order tacos with chicken grilled or otherwise. The place appears to be more drink focused.
Worst service I have ever had anywhere! I do no recommend.
floor and tables were sticky tacos fair at best. service was poor this was in the middle of the afternoon not like before a ball game or something. more authentic at taco Bell ,that's not a compliment
Food was very disappointing on game day. The bottom fell out of all three of my tacos before I could even take a bite. Portions were small and I watched my friend break 3 plastic forks trying to eat their meal. With how much we were spending on the meal, real cutlery instead of plastic would be nice.
Food was delicious, portions were huge, service was very pleasant, and the prices were very affordable. Highly recommend giving it a try.
I ordered steak. It was rubbery and partially burnt.
Terrible. Our order was incorrect, waitress practically monexistent. Employee running food from kitchen to tables was in flip flops
Great staff. Good food. Best Bloody Mary.
Everything is plastic: the utensils, the cups, even the plate they put your entree on is a to-go container. It's just a terrible experience for a sit down lunch. The food took over half an hour to get, and when we did get it, it was cold, with the wrong side. We were the first people there, too, so it wasn't like they were slammed, which I could understand. Other Steel Cactus locations are great, but I'm going to go out of my way to avoid this one, and I refuse to knowingly let others go there without being warned.
Went to Steel Cactus for a bite to eat after Picklesburgh. Drink specials on the table. So I ordered Friday's special which was sky vodka for $3 and you choose your mixer. So I ordered a vodka with club soda. Waitress comes back and says the special is no good because of the event going on outside. On the menu it says no specials during pirate games. There was no game going on. Then we ordered a chicken quesadilla. We told the waitress no black beans. We get it. Took a big bite and had a mouth full of beans. I told the waitress and she disappeared for 20 minutes. Unacceptable when people are paying for a service. Then wait staff complain of low tips. Hmmmmm....... We will not be returning there. The only nice thing I have to say about our visit is that the host Terry was so attentive and apologetic.
Most disappointing restaurant dinner I have had, possibly ever. The attached picture is of a $10.00 taco salad that had an additional $1.50 charge for avocado. It had bits of ground beef in it despite my wife ordering chicken.
The food is average, service was pretty slow although everyone was very nice. The tacos taste like something you could just make in your own house, so for the price I wouldn’t recommend it. If you are looking for authentic, delicious tacos, you should try somewhere else.
It's a great place with great food and drink and friendly staff
Very friendly customer service. Tacos are amazing! Taco Tuesday made my whole trip! Keep up the great work!
Today i came to the restaurant! I am partially disabled so I used the restroom. They treated me with respect. I bought a pop and left. I give them a 5 star.
If you are interested in good food in under 30 minutes, I would go somewhere else. Just finished having a Cobb salad that took 25 minutes to arrive. It was not a particularly busy day but they were understaffed with only one server who was also the bartender. The manager seemed to be too annoyed to handle anything with customers. I'm sure this is a fine place just to have drinks but if you have limited time, I would suggest Slice on Broadway
Food was very fresh and staff was attentive.
[Warning]: Substitutions to meals (you can still have things NOT added though) are not allowed during Pittsburgh Pirate home games or during lunch time. This is a nice place to come for a quick drink and a quick bite. They serve salads, burritos and tacos with a selection of appetizers. The food is good, but nothing mind blowing. The waiters and waitresses are friendly and attentive. The place seems clean overall.I was here looking at the stadium and just happened across this place looking for a drink and a snack, so if that's all you want, you'll find it here.Average price is about $12-$14. Plain queso is $6.
The staff was great. Put us all together, a party of 12 out on the patio and we had the best Mex style Happy hour food and Margs.
Sat for roughly half an hour and still no one came to take our order ended up walking out so I dont know how the food is but it did smell good just wish we had service
Who runs this restaurant? Service is awful or worse. Waited 1/2 hour for a table and was finally seated. No server or any interest from any employee. Waited 20 min with no service at our table. Asked hostess if we could get a server and no response. Mind you this was an hour after a Pirates game and patio was half to a quarter occupied. I’ll never be back and would advise anybody to walk right by.
The food was awful. I had 3 pepper burrito. It was awful. Others in my party said food was gross and couldn't eat it. They served my son fish but he ordered chicken. They were out of three things we ordered. The bathroom commode had overflowed and not taken care of. The restaurant wasn't the cleanest. We should have walked out. The waiter was nice was the only good thing!
